Mikael von und zu Fraunberg MD PhD LLM MSc(Tech) MSc(Econ) is Professor and Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Oulu and Oulu University Hospital, Finland. He is board certified Neurosurgeon with Special Competence in Pain Management. He has PhD in porphyria genetics, MSc in Computer Science, LLM in Law and MSc in Economics. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles. He is current Chair of the Finnish Neurosurgical Society. He is former Director and current Board Member of Neurocenter Finland, a Finnish cooperation network for neurosciences and research (neurocenterfinland.fi). He is former Chair of the Research Ethics Committee at Kuopio University Hospital and former Board Member of Eastern Finnish BioBank. His clinical focus is on pain neuromodulation, image-guided navigation, stereotactic radiosurgery and deep brain stimulation.
