Dr. Sari Hirvonen-Kantola is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oulu School of Architecture, University of Oulu. In her PhD thesis (2013) she identified five types of integrative urban development work, labeled to diverse markets. Subsequently, she has worked with smart cities and municipalities to detect and develop integrative urban development management practices, especially from the perspective of the collaboration of strategic spatial planning, and business and innovation development. Related contexts include the place-based innovation ecosystems: Oulu Innovation Alliance board for the City with New Attractive Opportunities and the University of Arctic TN Smart Societies in the High North steering group. Currently, Hirvonen-Kantola acts as Engaged Research Officer in UNIC The European University of Post-Industrial Cities, leads the WP4 Developing an Engaged Research Infrastructure: UNIC4ER Meets the City
