Description of research and teaching:

Jenni Rinne holds a title of Docent in ethnology. She got her PhD form Södertörns University, Sweden and after that she has been teaching in cultural studies programmes in Helsinki and Turku universities. Currently she works as a senior research fellow in cultural anthropology at the university of Oulu. Rinne has applied affect theories and sensory ethnography while studying different topics related to place (sacred, city and forests) and most recently societal crises in Finland, such as Covid-19 pandemic and a break of Ukrainian war. In her research she has been interested in embodied, sensory and affective experiences as part of cultural meaning making processes.
